We must become the change
we wish to see

Hi, my name is Michael. I’m a grateful father, husband, native Utahn, social worker, and appreciator of the outdoors. I listen to people for a living, and I want to listen to you.

I’m running as an Unaffiliated candidate for Davis County Commission, the only remaining undecided County Office voters will have a say in this November’s general election. This means I’m not focused on partisanship or constrained by a party. To the contrary, I’m a big believer in the need for bipartisanship. I think many politicians rely too heavily on party affiliation to get votes. Likewise, often we as voters too quickly choose our leaders simply based on a label, while dismissing other quality candidates for the same reason. I’m building a coalition of people across the aisle. We are better when we work together, and weaker when we work against each other. I welcome all Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, those who are unaffiliated, of the United Utah Party, Forwards, No Labels, new voters, the politically curious, and any who are understandably discouraged with politics. As frustrating and polarizing as politics has become, your voice is important. Your place and contribution in our community is valuable and needed.

bipartisanship-davis-county

Bipartisanship

Our political system has gotten increasingly divisive. I’m getting involved because I know there is a better way. I believe there is much more that connects us than divides us.

Children & Youth

They are our future and they deserve at least what previous generations left for us. Keeping kids in mind in all of our policy decisions and planning is of the utmost importance.

clean-air-utah-priority

Air Quality

It’s no surprise our air problems are real. Just this December, our Wasatch Front region had the worst air quality in the country.

fiscal-responsibility-commissioner-utah

Fiscal Responsibility

Fiscal responsibility is important to Davis County and it should be. Your funds need to serve you and the essential functions of our community.

Mental Health

For the last 20 years I have worked in mental health, supporting young people and families through challenging times and connection.

the-great-salt-lake

The Great Salt Lake

Davis County is unique in that the Lake and its wetlands run across our entire western boundaries. If there was ever a community to be invested in the well-being and vitality of the Great Salt Lake, it's ours. It brings beauty, recreation, an extraordinary ecosystem, visitors and economy.

balanced-sustainable-growth

Sustainable Growth & Conservation

Davis County as a population has bloomed in full fashion in recent decades, despite having the smallest land area of counties in all the state of Utah.

Supporting Those Who Support Us

I believe access to mental health support for first responders and emergency medicine personnel is an important resource when needed.

Community Relationship Building & Listening

I value all members of our community and want everyone to feel able to participate in the dialogue and direction of our County. I listen to people for a living.

affordable-housing-davis-county

Affordable Housing & Growth

In today’s housing market, purchasing and owning a home just isn’t viable for everyone. We need balanced access to a variety of economic and stable housing needs to support our residents and families.

Education

Education is a value in our state and community. As a resident and County leader, I will always advocate for these important school settings, children and teachers.

Older Adults & Aging

Seniors are an important part of our community and play a valuable role. They also encounter unique changes and needs over time. I believe in supportive services and opportunities for those who can benefit during aging.
